Tapping / EFT / Emotional Freedom Techniques
Tapping – also known as EFT (which stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques) – is a form of therapeutic intervention that is excellent for helping with a variety of issues. Anxiety, stress, anger, intrusive and negative thoughts, emotional eating, and even physical pain, are among the many issues it can help with.

If you’d like to learn how to do EFT yourself, here is an excellent tutorial video by Nick Ortner of The Tapping Solution:
What is tapping / EFT?
Tapping / EFT is a therapy that draws on a variety of holistic techniques, including neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), traditional Chinese medicine, and thought field therapy (‘TLT’, which was developed by Roger Callahan).
It involves tapping on specific meridian points along the body while focusing, or ‘tuning in’ to whatever negative feeling you wish to dissipate. Positive phrases are often also used to reinforce the process.
What are the EFT Tapping points?
When you first start to learn EFT, it may seem complicated and difficult to remember. Don’t worry, after you’ve gone through a few rounds you’ll find it’s very easy to get the hang of it.
Also – it’s not always necessary to do all the points if you’re short on time, or out in a public place.
The tapping points are:
- Inside of the eyebrow
- Side of the eye
- Under the eye
- Under the nose
- In between the chin and the mouth
- Under the collarbone
- Under the arm
- Thumb
- First finger
- Middle finger
- Little finger
- Gamut point (back of hand between knuckles of ring finger and little finger)
