My early professional career was in the music industry. I worked as a professional singer in various bands and shows.
During my musical career I performed in a variety of venues and travelled to many places around the world. I got to visit some amazing places, such as Hawaii, Jamaica, and Mexico. I also wrote and recorded my own songs. It was a great life, and a lot of fun.
By the time I reached my 30s I was ready to settle down and change direction. I had a growing interest in health, both of the mind and body, so I returned home from my travels and enrolled in college as a mature student.
I studied science, initially with a view to becoming a nutritionist, as I was very interested in the role healthy eating plays in our general health.
After a while I became more aware that food is only a small part of the equation when it comes to health and well being, so I decided on a change of direction.
I chose to take a more general approach; studying Health Science and Health Studies at The University of Chester. I learned about the biology of disease, environmental health, health promotion, welfare history, microbiology, and the sociology, politics, and economics of health.
While studying all aspects of health at University, I also becoming increasingly interested in more alternative approaches, such as Yoga, Reiki, Hypnotherapy, Meditation and Mindfulness. I trained as a Yoga teacher and began teaching Yoga classes around North Wales, which was where I was living at the time. I also began training in Reiki, eventually becoming attuned through to Master level.
I found as I deepened my knowledge and practice of various mind and body holistic techniques, I experienced a deep healing of my own emotional and physical challenges.
Soon after this I moved to Glasgow, Scotland, and decided that the time was right for me to begin post-graduate training as a Counsellor. I trained at The University of Strathclyde, gained my certificate and diploma, and began working as a counsellor.
I also trained in Hypnotherapy, NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, or ‘Tapping’), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Technique), and various other healing therapies, and I continue to keep up to date with the latest trainings. I draw on all my rich background of therapeutic knowledge and experience so that I can offer the best possible help and support to my clients.
Now in my 50s, I live in Cambuslang, near East Kilbride in the Glasgow area, where I run my own private practice as a therapist. In my spare time I love making wholefood plant-based meals, pet-sitting, and watching vintage movies.
